Splash is an international charitable organization headquartered in Seattle, WA and founded in 2007. We clean water for kids- and we do this in orphanages, street shelters, rescue homes, schools, and children’s hospitals in 7 countries. To learn more, please visit www.splash.org.

Before the Nepal earthquakes, 150 of Kathmandu's poorest schools already had safe water thanks to the Splash-Nepal team. Now, a school previously serving 1,000 kids can serve several thousand more people – adults and kids alike – in the same neighborhood.

Many of the 150 schools are becoming water-distribution points for earthquake victims within the most affected communities. And, after Nepal discovers the “new normal,” these safe water systems will continue to serve schools for years in the future.

In the wake of the second earthquake, we are in dire need of civil engineering expertise to support our Nepal team in assessing structural soundness and safety of school buildings, in which we work. Specifically, we are looking for structural improvements to how our overhead water tanks are mounted (earthquake resistant) or alternative methods to gravity fed water systems.

We are looking for volunteer assistance to support our Nepal team in assessing the school buildings and developing new strategies for creating a safe environment for the children we serve. This would be a short-term volunteer project from 1-3 months in country.
